8TH & rEPUBLICAN
SEATTLE, WA
Situated in the heart of South Lake Union this uniquely conceived project takes its inspiration from the natural setting of the Pacific Northwest as well as quarry landscapes.
Miller Hull Architects and Runberg Architectural Group have designed a unique building that creatively asserts itself in an urban block. With a fragmented and articulated façade, it is reminiscent of the chiseled stone of a quarry landscape.
Inspired by this sophisticated and unique approach to the building, we developed the interiors from similar sensibilities. Dark floors anchor the spaces like the water in a quarry. Sisal carpets and Wyoming snow fencing craft texture and a natural patina into a distinctly authentic experience. Blackened steel detailing creates a noticeable contrast to crisp surroundings. Visitors and residents are encouraged to experience this vitality in active, communal spaces.
